“MIA Medical Bulletin” – the most important resource
in the development of medicine of the Agencies
of Internal Affairs and the National Guard Forces

Since November 2002, the General Editorial Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with the participation of the Office of Medical Support of the Department of Material, Technical and Medical Support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has published specialized publication – academic and research periodical “MIA Medical Bulletin”. The founders of the journal are the General Editorial Board of the MIA of Russia (the publisher), the Main Clinical Hospital of the MIA of Russia, and the Main Military Clinical Hospital of the National Guard Forces Command of the Russian Federation.

The journal was created for the reporting of achievements of departmental medical science and practice, exchange of experience of leading medical specialists of the country, and publication of the latest research results in medicine in the system of the MIA of Russia, the National Guard Forces Command of the Russian Federation (the NGF of Russia) and other departments.

Recently, the Medical Service of the Agencies of Internal Affairs functions in conditions of the reform of law enforcement agencies and national health care services. Therefore, it is necessary to look for new ways to solve problems together, spread advanced experience of the best medical collectives and health professionals of the MIA, the NGF and other departments, implement the achievements of medical science and new technologies in practice.

One of the most important tasks of the journal is the creating of conditions for the medical specialist from the MIA and the NGF for development of departmental medical science.

At present several thousands of medical professionals serve in both departments; and number of preparing Candidate's and Doctor's dissertations increases annually.

The potential of departmental medical personnel grows, and “MIA Medical Bulletin” gives them the opportunity to publish the results of their researches.

Medical specialists of the Agencies of Internal Affairs and the National Guard Forces have their own press organ, which not only promotes achievements of departmental medicine and informs about problems and tasks of the Medical Services of the MIA and the NGF but also provides opportunities for the defense of Candidate's and Doctor's dissertations on medical subjects.

Academic and research periodical “MIA Medical Bulletin” is the only peer-reviewed scientific medical journal in the system of law-enforcement authorities of Russia, which corresponding to the level of the modern journal of the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia. At present corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doctors and candidates of medical, biological, psychological, technical sciences who work in the health care facilities of the MIA of Russia, the NGF of Russia and other governmental agencies publish the results of their scientific researches in the journal. The journal’s articles contain actual scientific materials from different areas of modern medicine. The medical specialist from the MIA and the NGF use journal’s materials as a study guide for the organization of classes in the system of special in-service training.

During the existence, the journal has become a “table-top book” for many categories of medical specialists. Every year the journal has expanded its capabilities. The volume of the journal was 48 pages in 2002, it was 52 pages in 2008, it was 64 pages in 2011, and from 2013, the journal contains 80 pages!

According to the decision of the Ministry's officials, the journal became the Laureate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Award, and the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation included “MIA Medical Bulletin” in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications where the main scientific results of Candidate's and Doctor's dissertations must be published (from 2004 to 2006, and from 2010 to 2016). At present, the Editorial Board is preparing documents for the inclusion of the journal in the List in 2018.

All this indicates that “MIA Medical Bulletin” is the most important resource in the development of medicine of the Agencies of Internal Affairs and the National Guard Forces Command of the Russian Federation.

The journal is published one time in 2 months (6 issues per year); it is distributed by subscription and purchased by all health care facilities of the Agencies of Internal Affairs, the National Guard Forces, and other health care facilities of Russia.

Electronic version of the journal is sent to the Scientific Electronic Library (SEL) and it is available for subscribers of the SEL.

The journal’s volume is 80 pages A4 in four colors.
