ASSESSMENT OF ACTIVITY OF THE PITUITARY-ADRENAL AXIS IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE
Kon’kov A., Zolotukhin N.
The article deals with the problems of alters pituitary-adrenal axis activity in patients with ischemic heart disease and verified coronary atherosclerosis. According to the study, a high level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in patients with verified coronary atherosclerosis combines with lower concentration of somatotropic hormone (STH) than in the control group. It was detected the discor-dance in the test performance: the levels of cortisol and ACTH decreased, the levels of STH increased. These parameters may indicate an increase of hypophysary adrenocorticotropic function and partial decrease of hypophysary somatotropic function in patients with ischemic heart disease and verified atherosclerosis of coronary arteries.
Key words: ischemic heart disease, pituitaryadrenal axis, coronary atherosclerosis.

OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA SYNDROME AND ROAD SAFETY
Yashchenko A., Kon’kov A.
Road safety is one of the most important state challenges. The road accident rate causes huge material and moral damage to society and individuals. Road traffic injuries lead to the exclusion of working age people from the sphere of production. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome have evident daytime sleepiness, which significantly reduces efficiency, limits attention and memory, disrupts the coordination of movements and slows the reaction rate. The emergence of these disorders greatly increases the risk of road accidents. Compulsory somnological examination of drivers can significantly affect the reduction of socio-economic damage from road accidents.
Key words: daytime sleepiness, traffic accidents, sleep disturbances, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, somnology, sleeping driving.
PRIORITY OF ANGIOTENSIN II RECEPTOR BLOCKERS MEDICATION FOR ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION
Kon’kova L., Osadchuk M.
Arterial hypertension is still inadequately controlled in almost half of the patients with this pathology. The rate of disease control is poor by now. At the same time, achievement of target blood pressure reduces macro- and microvascular complications and increase in the patients’ life expectancy.
Key words: arterial hypertension, angiotensin II receptor blockers, angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor, antihypertensive therapy, cardiovascular diseases.
THE TESTOSTERONE LEVEL IN MEN WITH ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE
Zolotukhin N., Kon’kov A.
The article deals with some aspects of states of android glands’ androgenic activity in men aged 39 to 63 with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and verified coronary atherosclerosis (CA). The level of the hormone was detected fasting and 120 minutes after the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). The highest basal content of testosterone was observed in the 30–49 age group, and the lowest content was in patients with IHD aged 50–59. The testosterone content was almost basal in the 50–59 age group two hours after OGTT. The testosterone level in patients with IHD aged 39–49 and over 60 during OGTT reduced. Patients with IHD and verified CA aged 39 to over 60 have a low level of testosterone associated with disorders of carbohydrate metabolism and pancreas hyperreactivity in comparison with healthy people, which indicates decreased activity of the testicles in this category of patients.
Key words: ischemic heart disease, testosterone level, android glands.
